Autism Awareness Month
INTRODUCTION
When I surveyed some of the school students, I discovered that only four out of 25 students were familiar with autism. This stark realization prompted me to contemplate methods for fostering awareness and, ultimately, acceptance of autism within the school community.
SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT
A proposal was crafted to implement a series of activities throughout April dedicated to autism awareness within the school community. This initiative involved creating a comprehensive bulletin board highlighting various aspects of autism, along with distributing posters addressing topics such as autism facts, dispelling myths, showcasing famous individuals with autism, and promoting strategies for fostering friendships with autistic peers.
Core Competencies Demonstrated
This project showcases proficiency in Advocacy by championing for greater awareness and acceptance of autism within the school environment. Building Relationships is demonstrated through collaboration with school staff and students to implement inclusive initiatives.
